Description

Description

This built-in brick is ideal for bats, which species uses the built-in brick depends on the area where the built-in brick is used and which species already occur there. When using one stone per location, the built-in stone can be used as a shelter for one or a few specimens or as a mating place. The built-in brick is also suitable as a maternity home, but several bricks must be connected to each other to create a larger space. With bats, the more space they have available, the better! So also as a shelter. Species that use the insert are: common pipistrelle, shaggy pipistrelle, little pipistrelle, latefly and the bicolor bat.

Placement

The bat built-in brick can be used in new construction or renovation. The front with slot is made to measure of a standard Waal format (3 layers high). The front of the built-in brick (with the slot) is placed flush with or slightly inside the front of the facade. The insulation in the cavity can continue behind the brick, so there is no cold bridge. The built-in bricks can be used connected. To do this, you can remove the wooden part on the left or right. The bats can crawl from one stone to another in this way. This actually creates a large bat box in the cavity. The built-in brick can be used in any wind direction with a preference for the southern side. Place the built-in brick as high as possible in the facade, but at least 2.5 meters. Keep the approach route to the cupboard clear, so do not allow trees or shrubs to grow in front of the wall and no sun protection or the like above the built-in brick. You can find droppings where bats live. It is therefore better not to place the built-in bricks above a door, window or balcony. The location of the built-in brick may not be brightly lit, so do not place lighting above the built-in brick. The built-in bricks can be expanded in the cavity (so not visible) with the cavity brick article number 91454.

Maintenance

The bottom of the built-in brick is sloped. As a result, the bat droppings simply roll out of the box. Furthermore, no maintenance is required for this built-in brick.
