Description

Description

This Build in Woodstone® Bat Access Panels made to give bats access to a building or cavity. Buildings inhabiting bat species can thus reach the building or the cavity through the slot of the access panel. The panel can be bricked in the façade.

The stone has a slot at the front that serves as access to the cavity wall. The slot is 2.5 cm high and 16 cm wide and has a sloping bottom surface. The entrance stone is made of the durable material, wood concrete. This is a natural material where no chemical additives (or vapors) have been used. Due to the rougher surface, it also gives the bats a good grip.

Siting

This Build in Woodstone® Bat Access Panels is specifically made to provide access to bats in the cavity wall, this can be used for new construction or renovation. The build-in box should be placed directly or slightly within the front of the façade.

The box can be situated in any wind direction, however the southern side is most preferred. Place the box as high as possible in the façade, it should be at least 2.5 meters high. Where possible, it should be placed on a façade where the sun shines on in the afternoon/evening. Keep the approach path to the entrance free, do not let trees or shrubs grow in front of the wall. Where bats are, one can find droppings, the entrance should therefore not be placed above a door, window or balcony. The location of the entrance may be brightly illuminated so do not place any lighting above the box. Multiple boxes per location is preferred.

Maintenance

This build-in brick has a slight slope on the surface floor of the box, bat droppings will therefore simply roll out of the box. The front of the stone is finished with a grey wall paint. No maintenance is required for this box.
